The Senzu Beans first appeared in the Commander Red Saga. While they can heal poisoning, they cannot heal people of sickness or diseases. However, it appears that the Senzu Beans cannot heal injuries that have already healed over, like scars or the stub of Saiyan tails. A Senzu Bean can also regenerate lost anatomy, including teeth, organs, and limbs. Likewise, injuries that have remained for a prolonged period of time, and were only stabilized by modern medicine, a Senzu Bean can be mended with no problems. Even mortally taxing and life-threatening harm can be healed by a Senzu Bean if consumed soon enough, restoring them to full health. The Senzu Bean's restoring properties mend and heal all physical harm to person: Bruises, burns, cuts, blood loss, muscle tear, punctures and impalement, damaged organs, lost teeth, dislocated and/or broken bones, and other inflictions completely vanish with no lingering signs. At the same time, some who have eaten the Senzu Beans have become hungry sooner, due to their naturally faster metabolisms (namely Saiyans). The nourishing properties are also so potent that one Senzu Bean can keep a person full for ten days, This property is also quite literal, as eating too many Senzu Beans at once can result in being painfully overstuffed. The properties of a Senzu Bean are highly versatile: fatigue disappears, stamina and ki reserves are restored, and they become full nourished. Their texture is said to be a cross between an uncooked (or under-ripe) bean and a celery stalk, and Yajirobe states that they taste like fish. However, the supply is limited, as it takes a long time to grow even a single Senzu Bean. As such, since Korin allied himself with Goku and his friends, Korin usually assists them by providing the Dragon Team with a bag of Senzu Beans. This property makes them immensely useful to carry in battle. When eaten, a person's physical condition is near-instantly restored to its natural peak. Senzu Beans are grown by Korin in Korin Tower.
